XD it sounds like I'm angry, or have some kind of story to tell cause of that title, but really it was just a sociology assignment.
When a daughter is seen holding hands with a boy by the father, what emotions are evoked? I'm not sure since I'm not a father, but what would be done in this situation? Well the correct answer is you kill the girl to preserve the honor of the family, decapitation. Not only is it the right thing to do, but you will be praised by everyone you know for doing so.
As barbaric as that sounds... there are STILL places in the world that operate this way. The father who does this vile act, no guilt, no remorse. The feeling he gets is relief. "Thank god I killed her so we could be clean and pure again". And who are we to say this is wrong? We are americans, our culture conflicts *STRONGLY* with such actions, but they would be just as opposed to our ways.
This has to do with different cultural norms, we grew up in a lets face it Christian world. Thou shall not kill. However they didn't, and acts such as canibalisim or this murder in the name of honor are correct. This is proof like nothing else that humans are never born a certian way. You don't have any geneticly predetermined traits. Everything you do, know, feel, think has ALL been told to you by who was before you, whats always been done.
People who understand this... is there really any way to escape it? Deviance is going agenst what the others say, but if your only modivation is to go agenst tradition, its still been proved that tradition dictated your actions. So I suppose the only real way is to experiment with what your comfortable with, to see what you define as right or wrong. But if everyone does this there will be a huge increase in crime, murders, well everything, and those are not good things, so this method shouldn't be acted upon. So in the end the society we've made will always, always control us.... just like a puppetmaster
